As the number of adventures in Odyssey increase, we start to learn more about the town and its surrounding area. For example, in this year there is a 2-part episode that introduces Camp What-A-Nut, a youth camp located in a woodsy area near Odyssey. We also learn about the history of Whit's End and how Whit came to creating it, leading to a growing resentment on the part of city councilman Philip Glossman. Odyssey's resident bully, Rodney Rathbone, makes his first appearance in this year and so does his father. Another milestone in this year is the introduction to Odyssey's first major family, the Barclay family, in the 2-parter Family Vacation. Then after a tornado nearly destroys Whit's End, the kids start their own radio station called KYDS radio. A major foreshadowing of the Imagination Station is presented to Connie as she goes back in time to witness David fighting Goliath, which contributes to her life-changing trip to California. And, amid all the chaos and newness, a young brilliant computer student makes his way to becoming an employee at Whit's End - Eugene Meltsner. We also learn that there is more to Whit's End than meets the eye...
